Hey friends, thank you for joining my blog, a project I’ve been working on for over two months.  It was hard because I have never done this before so I had to learn on my free time and if you know me, I changed it several times hoping to make it perfect.  Anyways, I wanted to launch on my SPECIAL day March 1st, you guessed it my birthday but unfortunately it didn’t happen because of a gliche100_1580.  It is still a work in progress so please be patient while I work out all the kinks.

So what is TRIFIT, some of you may recognize the name associated with my Facebook profile.  I named this blog “TRIFIT”, TRI short for triple because you are going to get three main components. Now I say three but I promise there will be much more on here but this blog will focus primarily on the following; Nutrition, providing Clean eating tips(Know that I’m not a Nutritionist but a strong advocate for Healthy Eating) So I will be posting recipes, tips and even some Did You Know.  Exercises, advice and tips on how to train safely, how to prevent boredom or hitting a “PLATEAU” while training(ie. Treadmill), how to modify exercises and so so much more. Motivation, I know all to well what it feels like to lack the big M word. It in my opinion really has nothing to do with being lazy and I don’t think those two words, “Lazy” & “Unmotivated” are the same though many refer to themselves as being lazy. No No No unmotivated and I’m going to boost you daily with inspiring quotes and pics and my own two cents.   But like I said I will be going out all on this blog so stay put it’s going to be “uplifting,” pun intended lol.

Yoga & Calorie burning workout

Who says Yoga is boring?  Well a few do but I have a very new perspective and appreciation for it.  I did my first Yoga session at home doing all the common stretches especially those ones that strengthen my Piriformis muscle and Sacroiliac joint.  I gotta say WOW!!!!!! Not because of the stretches noooooo (although great) but because of this burst of energy to do more. So I ended my 45 mins of Yoga then incorporated the stability ball  performing various exercises including Hamstring Curl, Superman, Abdominal workout to name a few, ending with some Yoga stretches AGAIN lol.  No I didn’t stop there I grabbed my dumb bells and kettlebell and did some shoulder exercises. Oh did I tell you the whole time I’m listening to the BEAT channel. This song came on “1 Thing by Amerie” and well I just dance…nothing like feeling sexy and strong after a workout then hearing the perfect song to make you shake that BOOTY.  Give it a try people…This is my energy booster today for your tomorrow. 🙂

Body Shape Assessment

Ladies do you ever find it frustrating shopping for clothing to compliment your body shape.  Requesting assistance of sales clerks who don’t understand your flare and expectations.  Well when shopping for clothing for your body type, it’s important to choose clothing that fits properly every time.   This is vital, from dresses to business suits.

There are 6 different body shapes ladies and they are the Hourglass Figure, the Inverted Triangle figure, the Triangle figure, the Rectangle figure(or straight), the Oval figure and last but certainly not least, the Diamond figure.

Hourglass Figure: AKA the perfect body shape.  If your hip line and your bust line are the same width and your waist defined.

Your main Styles: to emphasize your curves, especially your waist, without adding bulk.

Wear: Fitted and semi fitted clothes, Soft, clingy, Flowing fabrics, Low to medium low necklines, Dresses with defined waistlines, Straight and gently flared pants, Straight and gently flared shirts.

Don’t Wear: Stiff bulky, fabrics, Baggy styles, High Necklines(unless you have a small bust), Skirts with open pleats, Very tapered pants.

LADIES!!!! I share these body shapes primarily because when we take on a healthier lifestyle that includes diet and fitness, what are we so eager to do when we’ve reach our ideal weight.  Yes, it is shop and let’s face it WE WANT TO LOOK FABULOUS, wear our clothing and not have our clothing wear us. Mouth watering pancakes

It’s the weekend and although Saturday is my cheat day,  I plan on starting it off with Multigrain Blueberries/Strawberries Waffles. High in Fibre low in fat.

Calories approximately 221

  • 1 1/2 cups whole grain pastry flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups fat-free milk
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Directions

 

1.
Preheat the oven to 200°F. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.
2.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3.
In a medium bowl, combine the milk, egg whites, brown sugar, and oil. Add to the flour mixture and stir just until blended. Fold in 1 cup of the blueberries.
4.
Coat a nonstick waffle iron with cooking spray. Preheat the iron.
5.
Pour 1/2 cup of the batter onto the center of the iron. Cook for 5 minutes, or until steam no longer escapes from under the waffle-iron lid and the waffle is golden. Place the waffles on the prepared baking sheet and place in the oven to keep warm.
6.
Repeat with the remaining batter to make a total of 8 waffles.
7.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the remaining 1 cup blueberries, the strawberries, and maple syrup. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the berries are softened and the mixture is hot. Serve with the waffles.
